Mohamed Sathak A.J.Academy of Architecture, Chennai (MSAJAA ) and INTACH Chennai conducted a Heritage walk on April 21th, Sunday at Brodie Castle (TamilNadu Government Music College), R.A Puram.The participants were taken on a walk around the campus and within the Tamil Nadu Government Music College. A brief history was given about the evolution of the college, its landscape and architectural features. To experience the liveliness of the living heritage via music, a small performance was conducted by the students of the Tamil Nadu Government Music college at the beginning and at the end of the Heritage Walk.

Mohamed Sathak A.J. Academy of Architecture (MSAJAA), Chennai, in collaboration with INTACH Chennai, organized an enriching Heritage Walk on Sunday, April 21st, at the historic Brodie Castle, currently housing the Tamil Nadu Government Music College, in R.A. Puram. The walk began with a guided tour around the scenic campus, followed by an exploration of the Tamil Nadu Government Music College. Participants were introduced to the rich history of Brodie Castle, delving into the evolution of the college, its landscape, and notable architectural features. Insights were shared about the transformation of the site over time, offering a glimpse into its significance as a living heritage.To enhance the experience, students from the Tamil Nadu Government Music College presented musical performances at the start and conclusion of the walk, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in the cultural ambiance of the venue.

Ar.Hiranya ( Batch 2021-2023) conducted the heritage walk at Government Fine Arts College. The campus tour was focused on both tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Architectural significance of the red building was explained in detail. The participants had an opportunity to interact with the students and faculty members of Ceramic workshop, Textile workshop and Printmaking workshop. The process of each technique was explained. The samples and tools were also explained to the participants. Ar.Thiripura Sundari had inaugurated the Fine arts college stamp at the end of the walk. Using various ink, the stamps were printed to remark a memory of the place. The interaction with the craft persons were appreciated.

To understand Pallava’s history and legacy , the heritage walk was conducted to study architecture of Kailasanathar Temple. Material and construction techniques, murals, sculptures, planning system , calligraphy and the significance of the temple was explained in detail.
